| Coleridge wrote Kubla Khan in the late 18th century. He described it as a fragment of what could have been a longer, more epic poem. The entire poem came whole to him in a dream but, he claimed, his transcription was interrupted by a visitor, and all that remained afterwards was the fragment we know today. Regardless, Kubla Khan has become a poetic icon, “a fantasy about artistic creation and its associated obstacles and penalties….” Printed from movable type, illustrated with hand-cut block prints and calligraphic embellishments, in a limited edition of 150 copies. 24 pages, bound variously with printed and/or decorated paper from the St. Armand Papery in Montreal, Quebec. There will be demonstrations on the press, examples of hand-set type and printed souvenirs available. For more information, or to order, contact Larry Thompson at Greyweathers Press, 606 Elgin Street in the Village of Merrickville, ON 613-269-3714, studio@greyweathers.com Copies of Kubla Khan cost $90 + gst and shipping if applicable. |
